Moroccans led tourist arrivals to Brazil from the Middle East and North Africa region, at a total of 4,035 tourists in 2023, ranking the Kingdom 53rd among countries sending tourists to Brazil, reported the news agency affiliated with the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, based on figures from the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion.
Approximately 2,404 Lebanese tourists entered Brazilian territory by the end of the previous year. Tunisians, Saudis, and Egyptians followed in third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively. The report highlighted an increase in Moroccan tourists visiting Brazil compared to 2022.
Argentina retained its position as the top country sending tourists to Brazil, with approximately 1.9 million Argentine tourists visiting last year.
The United States followed with 668 thousand tourists, then Chile with 458 thousand. Paraguay and Uruguay secured fourth and fifth places, respectively. French tourists topped the list of European visitors to Brazil.
According to data from the Brazilian Central Bank, international tourists visiting Brazil in 2023 contributed nearly $7 billion to the country’s economy, surpassing the revenues generated by the tourism sector in 2014 during the World Cup by 1.5 percent. The Brazilian government aims to achieve revenues exceeding $8 billion by 2027 through its tourism plan.
The Moroccan Ambassador to Brazil emphasized the determination of Rabat and Brazil to boost tourism flows between the two countries, considering the tourism sector as a significant element of their strategic partnership.
The Moroccan Tourism Office revealed that Morocco receives around 50,000 Brazilian tourists annually and aims to double this number in the coming years.
